What inspired you to start The Curvaceous Bride? As a veteran in the bridal industry, I have seen first-hand the difficulties that plus-size women face while dress-shopping. Your stories have touched my heart and I feel your disappointment. So... The Curvaceous Bride was born! No bride should ever have to settle for a wedding gown because it's the only gown in her size, or because the thought of going to another store, with the probability of nothing fitting her, gives her anxiety. THIS IS MY WHY! I believe that every woman, no matter your size, should have options, be treated with respect, be informed and have fun! Every BODY is beautiful! Congratulations on your engagement! Love, Marianne

Where are you located? We are located at 125 Turnpike Rd. Unit 9 Westborough, MA, 01581 People sometimes pass right by the store. So, when approaching the store and you see Frank's Bicycle Barn on the right (which looks exactly like its name), our store is a bit hidden behind the bushes and you should slow down and turn right in about 100 feet. Driving in the breakdown lane once you pass the bike barn is the best way to avoid missing the turn!

How does your store work?We are both an off-the-rack and ordered bridal store! This allows us to provide you with many options at many different price points as well as time restrictions. For our off-the-rack section to our store, you will be able to leave with your dress the day you come in! For our ordered section, the dresses take around 3 months to come in . Typically, you will still need alterations to include a hem, and bustle, which we recommend 3-4 additional months to do so.
-
Do I need to bring anything? No! We recommend an open mind and a smile!! Sometimes, brides may bring shapewear or a strapless bra. We usually tell our brides to remove their bra when trying on dresses because you will not be wearing one on the wedding day. Often times shapewear also may add unnecessary bulk, which may make it harder for you to fit in dresses, BUT we want you to feel your most confident and beautiful so we will accommodate you anyway we can! For shoes, we recommend only bringing them to your alterations appointments. You will be standing on a podium at our store, so it will act like you are wearing heels.

Who should I be including?First and foremost, you should be shopping for your wedding dress surrounded by people you love and who love you back. You want to be surrounded by smiles when you put on the perfect dress. Don’t include anyone that might bring you down. A list of people you may want include: Maid-of-honor, Mother, Father, Grandmother, Siblings, Mother-in-law, Sister-in-law, additional bridesmaids or closest friends. Be mindful of who you are bringing along. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PLEASE EVERYONES STYLES! Sometimes having a lot of opinions can be overwhelming and confusing. In general, you want to make sure the people who accompany you are the kind of people who will be honest with you. Friends or family who will actually tell you if a dress is not right for you and will be supportive and honest throughout the entire process, even if their style does not align with yours!

Typical Bridal Experience breakdown: 15 mins. to look for dresses. 1hr-1hr 15mins. of trying on dresses 15 mins-30 minutes: break/retrying on top gowns The breakdowns of the appointment times can vary depending on if you find your dress! How will I know my size/what sizes do we carry? We are New England's FIRST Plus size bridal store. We carry sizes 18-32. If you are not in this size range, check out our sister store Marianne's Bridal Outlet! For example, if you are a 14-16 in normal clothing, in bridal sizing you can be anywhere from a 18-22. Bridal sizing is very different compared to normal clothing. Everything is in European sizing so you should expect to be a size or two larger than your normal sizing. Designers also vary in the way they size. Some designers fit true to size, others run smaller or bigger, but our stylists are trained to know each designer and sizing! With off-the-rack dresses, we like to give our brides a size range in order to allow you to try on more dresses.
-
When should I start looking? For ordered dresses, we recommend 7-8 months out. This will allow for the dress to be ordered, come in and going to the seamstress for alterations. For off-the-rack dresses, you will be able to leave with your wedding dress if you find it that day! For alterations, typically it takes 3-4 months before the wedding. The seamstress we recommend can work on a time constraint if needed! Since we are a little different from a normal bridal store, you do not need to shop a year in advance from your wedding!
-
What is the price range for dresses? For off-the-rack dresses, most of our dresses are under $1000! Usually from $849-$999, we have a few over $1000, but nothing over $1500 For ordered dresses, you can expect anywhere from $699 to $2000. You should expect anywhere from $200-$450 for alterations
-
Do you provide alterations in store? We recommend a local seamstress that we have been using for YEARS! She is amazing and highly recommended from previous happy brides! Once you have purchased a gown, we will provide you will all of her information. You can expect alterations to run from $200-$450, just depending on what actually needs to be done for your dress.
-
Can I hold a dress?Yes! We want to make your you love the dress 100% and do not want to rush you into making any decisions! There is a $100 non-refundable hold fee. The $100 will take the dress off the rack for 5 days so that you have some time to think about it. If you decide to say yes to the dress, the $100 will go towards that dress. If you do not decide to go with the dress, the hold will turn into a store credit. You will then have 45 days to come in to use that credit. This can be used on another dress, veil or accessories. After 45 days, this credit will be expired and cannot be used.
